Lombardy Raceway sits north of Kingston, about three hours east of us, which makes it the one on the calendar that is a trip rather than a drive. We have been twice.
The first was in early October 2025, at the end of a season, with the leaves going over and the mornings cold enough that nobody wanted to be the first out. There is no published result from that weekend that I can point you at — a lot of grassroots minimoto simply is not written up anywhere — and I am not going to reconstruct one from memory to make this read better. What I remember is the light. Low autumn sun straight down the back section, and a kid on a red minibike who did not want to come in.
The second trip was round two of the 2026 FIM MotoMini Canada season, on July 4. Completely different weather, completely different stakes.
Jäger Stockill took both 190 races — the second one by more than twenty-five seconds, which at Lombardy is most of a lap. In race two Cohen came home fourth in the class, in his rookie season at that level, on a circuit he had seen for the first time the day before.
Lombardy is a short track — well under a kilometre — and it does not let you hide. There is no long straight to recover a bad exit on. If you carry the corner badly, you carry it badly all the way to the next one, and the rider ahead simply leaves. That is a hard lesson for a kid who has learned to ride somewhere with more room, and it is the reason the trip is worth making twice a year.
The drive home from Lombardy is the long one. Three hours, a trailer, and three kids asleep in the back with their helmet bags as pillows. Both times.
